Welcome to the local RSPCA Branch for Sunderland, Hartlepool & South Tyneside.

We are an independently-funded, community-based, small charity - supporting local animals and people across our catchment area. All of our funds are raised, and used locally. Our services include financial assistance towards neutering, microchipping and accessible veterinary care, pet food bank services, and prevention education initiatives.

While we work in support of the National RSPCA (RSPCA England & Wales), and align with their values and objectives, our work is separate. We do not have the facilities or resources to respond to reports of animal cruelty, abandonment or neglect. If you need to report incidents of this nature, please call 0300 1234 999.

The RSPCA is unable to support the rehoming of pets where owners are seeking to relinquish ownership, and can only intervene where an animal is at risk of direct harm or danger.

WELFARE & ADVICE

As a branch, our aim is to provide support and assistance around animal welfare. This may be in the form of financial assistance via our neutering and microchipping scheme, pet clinic days, seminars  or via advice, signposting, education and events.

Did you know? One of the most groundbreaking pieces of legislation in the RSPCA's history was the Animal Welfare Act 2006 which brought together and updated all the main legislation concerning domestic animals since the 1911 Protection of Animals Act.
