Protect Pets. Empower Carers. Change Lives.

It costs us just £34 to train one foster carer, the impact lasts a lifetime.

When a child enters foster care, they often bring with them confusion, trauma, and emotional distress. In some cases, this can tragically lead to unintentional cruelty or neglect towards animals in the home. That’s why we’re launching a crucial new initiative:

Training foster carers to spot early signs of concern and take action to protect pets and children alike.

It costs our small, local RSPCA branch just £34 to deliver this training. That one foster carer may go on to care for dozens of children, each with the potential to either harm or love the animals they live with.

With your support, we can equip carers with the tools and knowledge to stop cruelty before it starts, ensuring a safer future for every pet in their care.

Alongside our assisted vet clinic days, pet food bank, and neutering support, this education work is part of our commitment to protecting animals in the heart of our community.

Donate today and help create a safer tomorrow for pets and children.
Every penny goes directly to animals in need across Sunderland, Hartlepool, and South Tyneside.

Did you know? One of the most groundbreaking pieces of legislation in the RSPCA's history was the Animal Welfare Act 2006 which brought together and updated all the main legislation concerning domestic animals since the 1911 Protection of Animals Act.
