Sunderland, Hartlepool and South Tyneside Branch

Thousands of pets are lost every year and many are never reunited with their owners.

The RSPCA believes that the best way to make sure you find your missing pet is to have him/her microchipped – implanted with a special microchip ‘tag’.

The Government brought in compulsory microchipping for all dogs from 6 April 2016 to help reunite owners with lost or stolen pets, relieve the burden on animal charities and local authorities and protect the welfare of dogs by promoting responsible dog ownership.

During 2each year the Branch run a number of FREE microchipping events within the Sunderland, Hartlepool and South Tyneside areas. Keep an eye on our news and events pages and on Facebook and Twitter to see when there is next one in your area.

Microchipping is only effective if you keep your details up to date. If you move house or change your telephone number you must make sure that you tell the database you are registered with so that they have your up-to-date contact details.
